go hard?

I'm about to head off to meredith music festival for the weekend (thanks to a certain mad cunt for hooking me up with a ticket), so i thought i'd do up a post before i leave (i've managed to finish it with seconds to spare, hah!). If you're headed to meredith as well, here are tips on dope acts that aren't the main attractions:
DJ Mu-Gen - He'll be doing the next mixburn, so look out for that. Man has skills to pay bills, is a pro DJ. I don't meet many people who don't love his styles. He's gonna be doing a solo, then dual set on 4 decks with Ooh-ee which should be radballs.
Town Bikes - A hot tip from one of the funnest (with a double 'n') people i know.
Junior Reid - Reggae king
Paris Wells and Thief - You might remember Thief from this post, i'm interested to see what this dual show is like.
Midnight Juggernaughts - Keep getting bigger.

Back to normal stuffs...
I've been getting into German duo Alter Ego only recently. They have some how managed to slip under my radar for a while, and i mean like a while, cause they've been putting out some heat for a few years now. With that being said, it is their more recent stuff that i've been getting into the most. They just recently released a new full length, Why Not? Has a bunch of really cool fidgety sounding tracks on there, with trippy blips and squelches and some tight production to boot. My favs would have to be "Chicken Shag", "Why Not?" and "Fuckingham Palace" at the mo, but the whole album flows really nicely, and most of the tracks are pretty dope.
You should def check out the LP available thru Klang Records, over at Beatport.
The track i've put up is the edit i made of "Fuckingham Palace". I've pretty much just gotten the bass part and extended it and chopped it up a fair bit, then gotten rid of some of the other parts too, then un-extended it so it's not like 10 minutes long. I was working on an even more chopped version, but i think i like this first version more now.

The next track has been high on my playlist as of late. It's a bit of a fav at the mo as an intro track to my set, to help get across a 'get ready to lose it to some fucked up dance music' message. I'm talking Bird Peterson's "Twurk Central". I've been sitting on it, since i got it with bird's recent full length, Hot Noise (which you can grab direct from his myspace), so was pleasantly surprised when i found it sitting in the mailbox as promo for his new EP, Plays. I think i've been a bit late on giving you a link to get the record direct from Flaming Hotz, but there are still some copies available at Phonica Records and at Juno. I keep finding more and more supa hot tracks from Bird, and can see where all this hype has been coming from, so am jumping on the band wagon of recommending him, post haste. He's got good musical skill, a tripped out look on music, a mash of lots of things dance, grimey bass, totally up my alley.

This Young Lovers track i got thru a blog hookup, over at Disturbed Beats. It's the new Herve project we've been hearing about lately, which i'm looking forward to. This track is all i've got to go on it so far, and so far it = another herve project that i can't help but like. I've had the track in my car lately, and it keeps growing on me, i'm getting into the ape-like-dance-move invoking bass, that keeps taking you a touch higher. I imagine there's a lot more to look forward to in the EP, and it will probably sound a reasonable amount different to this remix, bring it on but but. The EP is due to drop this/next week, thru Loungin Recordings, so get ready to jump.

Deadmau5 is a name i've been seeing quite a bit lately, mainly because it's often been high on the beatport download chart lately. As to why it's been so popular has kinda alluded me for a while. I guess it's not exactly my kind of music tho- a little lo-fi and minimal for my tastes- which makes it a bit harder to judge on my part. The production is usually pretty good, but it just seems like a lot of annoying build ups and boring sounds. I'm not gonna completely commit to that statement tho, cause this track he did with Jelo is definitely dope. It's got real cool build ups, nice drops, and cool sounds. It's more on the tech than the other stuff i've heard of his, and feels like it's moving somewhere. This might be due to the influence of Jelo, who seems to have put out a few harder tracks. Anyway this one is dope, you can grab the EP with another track that sounds kinda like a weird remix of this track called "Desynchronised" over at Beatport.

Yeh, i know i'm on no mix tapes at the moment, but i got this one a bit ago from a Sydney connection, DJ Bones, and it's pretty dope. It's on a bit of a bmore, baile funk, party starter tip, filled with hip hop chants and hand claps, and a bit of an old school bloc-party turned new feel. Bones is known in Sydney for being pretty up on what's new, and has included some exclusivos in here.
