Killing It
Photo: Holger PootenThere's a whole lot of artists really killing it at the moment, people who seem to be doing no wrong... I don't always get to post about every artist that's really doin it for me, so here's a post with a few more people that i haven't hyped enuf as of yet... or i have and have just forgotten that i've done so.
Boy 8-Bit
Boy 8-Bit would have to be right up on the top of my list for DJ of the minute. He's got some cool older releases, but it's his latest releases that have been way off tap, aka super awesome, and in such an individualistic way. This guy is really making his own sound. It's kinda like house, bmore, grime, dubstep and hip hop having a party at 8-Bit's house. Definately a guy to keep an eye out for. His remix of Mika's "Lollipop" is like my favorite track at the moment (but i don't have a copy of it, so if anyone wants to hook me up with a reasonable copy so i don't have to wait till new years eve, please email me), this remix of Lethal Bizzle also brings the rain big time. It's another track where Boy 8-Bit is using LFOs in a dope and non-boring way.

Rye Rye
She's slowly getting more and more hype throughout the music world, people are starting to recognize, and other artists are helping her out some more. She bursted on to our scene first off with the ever popular "Shake It To The Ground" track with Blaqstarr, which was a killer in it's own right (although i thought the official remixes where rather lack-luster). Rye Rye kinda reminds me of Baltimore's answer to Baile Funk MCs, she's loud, she shouts, she can move and she's got energy. For some nice examples of all that, you gotta check out these videos:
Live with MIA
Dancing at a show (she was originally a dancer, so she's got some moves)
Shake It To The Ground official clip (the people with the wobbly legs at the end are dope)
In terms of new tracks, all i know of is that she's dropping verses on singles, and just doing the odd single of her own here and there (seems like she's enjoying touring the US and Europe atm), not too sure of anything bigger or more official right now.
Wassup Wassup is like my favorite DJ tool at the moment, i totally need an acapella of it to edit tho i think.

Bart B-More
He hasn't realeased a whole mass of things, but his discog is growing. He's done 3 tracks that i'm especially fond of (and it would seem so is everybody else); "So It Goes", "Basement Beats" and the aptly titled, "Killing It" (a remix of that track off the Kill Bill Soundtrack, which matches the quality of the La Riots version). Each track is a little bit minimal (like most of his), but he really manages to keep up intesity, and doesn't let them get boring. The production on each song is top notch, and whenever each track is dropped right, people get real crazy (it seems people go crazy to "So It Goes" no matter what though).
Killing it was released as a bonus track i think, on Bart's New School Cuts EP, out through Samsobeats. I think it's a bonus anyway, cause some copies don't seem to have the track listed, maybe there where 2 versions of the release, some1 word me up in the comments if they know better. Anyway, the track seems hard to come by, so check it out. I can't seem to find many good sources to buy the release, but you can get it through Recess Records.

On a bonus note of killing it, just more in the sense of club nights and DJing, our mates Zombie Disco Squad (aka the Gutter Broadcasters) sent me there latest mix in the mail, "We'll House You". It sits pretty true to their style of house music with no "electro-mosh/ed banger shit whatsoever", ZDS are attempting to "bring back house". It's a good mix if you're down with housey house, minimal-ish stuff, and some straight-up figet and glitch house.
Their Get Rude nights always have a well impressive line-up (last one they got Boy 8-Bit). And going by the pics, people seem to love em, so if you in London, go check em.
