A beetroot in my burger

So, thursday's totally sorted they're here and they're bloody. , aye! Friday seems pretty covered too... You know that red stuff that ozzies are know for having in our burgers? (i need me a fish and chips store, stat!) YehEnuf with cryptics! Lick It are putting up The Bloody Beetroots this friday at the Order of Melbourne on swanston street, and i expect it'll be well pimp.
If you haven't gotten onto the beetroots sound yet it's time to do yourself a favour. I'm sure if you read any blogs on a slightly regular basis you have most likely heard of them by now tho. It didn't take me too long to get obsessed with em, but i think it was the timbaland remixes that sent me over the edge. They just turned the tracks so far upside down and around it wasn't funny.
What i really dig about them, is it's like some actually inspiring, fun-arse ravey stuff. I think i've said before that a lot of the nu-rave/indie-electro, gigantic synths and lotsa distortion thing is just being a bit killed and lifeless. Too many people have jumped on the boat and made too much similar sounding boring stuff. So when some1 like the beetroots pops up, i'm all too happy to be mashing my skull to the sound. It's menacing big big synths, ravey tops, with some fat lo end still left over, and all pushed so hard and nicely.
Definitely must check choons, and going by the mixes i've heard by em, friday night should be rave-fucken-tastic. And it's their only show in melbs so look out (there's still some tix left, but they're almost gone, you should be able to get some on the door if you ain't too late! also cha-boi tranter is playing there!!). Also, for the sydney readers, you ain't missed out yet cause they're also playing at Trashbags @ YU the next night (sat 20th).
oh and P.S. big ups to discodust for lots of beetroot hype!
The tracks below are their two newest... The aptly titled I Love The Bloody Beetroots, and a sick "hands up" track featuring Congorock (He seems to have come outta nowhere with this one. You can grab a cool mix by him here.), who sent me the track a couple of weeks ago which i've been meaning to post...

Another bit of hotness i've heard recently is this sickness of a Dizzee Rascal remix by Dave Spoon. Another example of nicely flipping a track, albeit not in a beetrooted way, he has turned it into a fresh sounding house thing tho. I think it's been getting a bit of hype machine love, anyway this is a good quality version. Fits in dope to sets ay. I love house tunes with hip hop raps on them, the whole genre needs to be explored more. It's being done, but i want an overhaul damnit! Ima try push it in my own productions anyway, and have been really, like boom... man i'll be happy when uni's out i say i say.

Recently Does It Offend You, Yeah? did a bit of touring that made me all too jealous (come to australia pleeaaaase). I don't think there's a show i've seen of theirs (thru youtube) that hasn't made me feel a bit wet in the pants. They did a tour diary video of their recent tour around england, which is fun to look at. The song they use in that clip is an older one of theirs, "Weird Science", which came out with their other awesomest song to date, "We Are Rockstars" (which they also use in the clip actually). Grab some weird science::
