Out there we are grinding like pepe

I felt it was about time i did a post on Afrikan Boy. You just know he's gonna blow up. I can't get enuf of the Hussel track he did with M.I.A. on Kala (PS Kala is like the best album of the year by faaarrr, no doubt!), the beat was so Switch (although it's produced by M.I.A, Diplo and Switch), and the rhymes fit in all too well.

Anyway i was watching the episode of "Spike Jonez Spends Saturday With", on VBS.tv (on recommendation from Palms Out), where spike was doing an episode with MIA. She's starting up a new label, Zig Zag ("when life is a straight line you gotta zag it"), and Afrikan Boy is her first signing, so she takes spike over to his house (part 3 and 4 of the episode). In part 3 they show Afrikan Boy's new track "One Day I Went to Lidl" and i was all like woah!...
He's got some mad flow, and a damn cool grimey style. I like his kinda Africanish flow and style, and feel like it's different than your average Grime. Would have something to do with what M.I.A. was talking about to do with representing someone who has first hand experience in the 3rd world, then coming to the western world and doing some new music. And as she says that really isn't represented a whole lot in the western music scene. The diversity and "progression" of the 3rd world is vastly different to what we might typically hear. At least the internet is working well on eliminating "typical".

Anyway i wish there was more to find on Afrikan Boy atm, but you'll haveta check his myspace for more songs, or wait for the Zig Zag release, which i don't have any info on either. This track "Lidl", and the "Marching Boy Riddim" is off Afrikan Boy Presents Can of Whoopass Vol.1, but i must say i can't find that online to buy either, i'm sure it's out somewhere...
Also there were 3 tracks (including far far which she mentions in the episode, which is a break up song about you know who i suppose) which wern't released on MIA's Kala, (the are on the Japanese version though) so i figure they should totally be released on the interweb. I've tried to stay away from posting stuff off her new album, cause it's been whored out by everyone, and whoring shouldn't be what blogging's for. Hopefully the unreleased factor, and that it's unreleased M.I.A should help popularise the Afrikan Boy tracks, just like the fact that Zig Zag is her label should popularise his release.
Also check the Palmsout Sounds post on samples used for MIA tracks which is pretty dope, as those segments always are.
