Mixburn Vol. 2 - Loot

And then there was volume 2. This one comes from Loot. You may have seen his name on flyers for the Leaky Holes In Your Brain nights (p.s. we got cup eve covered), i've been playing with Loot a bit lately, and damn straight he's a dope DJ. I first ran into him through the hollerboard funnily enuf. Saw his name there, grabbed his Spank Rock remix, and was like "this guy's onto something", then i saw that he was from Melbourne too, and was like w'oah. So thru a bit of net chat we did a couple of gigs together, turns out he knows like half the people i know (i know there's small world factor, but in melbourne it's completely ridiculous!).
Loot always manages to keep very true to his own style, which is evident in this mix. He has some dope tracks in there that i'm really and sometimes play, yet it sounds totally different to one of my mixes. Kinda like when your best mate has all the same tracks as you, but pulls out completely different sets. It's done really smoothly and flawlessly, and you can see Loot's musical talent shine through on this one.
Anyway check out the mix, kinda like Paz, he's in no way new to the decks. Some may know that he used to go under the guise Motive, and was big in the drum and bass scene (like i've spoken to a lot of heads and they're all like motive used to be melbourne dnb). No need to worry, this mix don't sound nothing dnb, haha, excuse the hate.
Check some words from the man himself:
Sinners Are Winners is my latest mix. It's really a demo of what I like to play out, some club rap, house, electro, indie, and things that straddle those divides. I'm not too worried about just playing the lastest tracks, so I looked back through my collection and just tried to play things that really fit together - beginning at Dizzee Rascal and ending with Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I get a lil' Melbourne in there too with Cut Copy's "Hearts On Fire". It's definitely an indication of what I play out, and also what generally is happening with Melbourne's blurring of genres. Remember, downloaders are winners!
