Mixburn Vol.1

The first release of the Mixburn series!!
I think i've mumbled about the fact that this was gonna start up on the blog. Basically it's gonna be an ongoing mix series, where i'll be asking Melbourne DJs i think are pretty damn good to do a mix for the blog. They'll say a little bit on it, i'll say a little bit on it, it'll be good. It'll act as a bit of a Melbourne talent (/DJ talent) showcase, and will provide some bitchin, yes bitchin, mixes for your ears. It'll happen on close to a monthly basis, depending on when the mixes come in though. I've got a couple more people making some now too, so expect some more hotness.

Ok, on to it. This first mix comes from, now fellow scatterblogger, DJ Paz. He's been bumpin clubs since as long as i've been going to them (and some more), and has definately established himself in the Melbourne scene. I've always admired the way Paz can really keep on top of stuff. He's known about a whole lotta movements, and bought up a whole lotta records surrounding them, and then played them out instantaneously, so you can always expect something fresh. Then on the other hand, he doesn't seem to get washed up in hype. There's a whole lot of leftfield classics, and a bunch of varied stylings thrown in to his mixes. This mix he also did for a new DJ night that's being put on at First Floor, down the end of Brunswick Street. The mix ends up being a kinda cruisey hip-hop, reggae-ish thing, that evolves into some booty-techish dance things (Paz used to play a bunch of ghetto-tech/booty-tech stuffs). It's got a nice dancey vibe goin throughout. Listen to what Paz has to say on the mix:

I did this mix for a night called Bossin' at First Floor. They are trying to put a vibe out that "we are sick of all the winding up fools thinking they can get away with sexual assault of females". This is my mix of bass lines coming from spectrums of rock, hip hop, soul, commercial, world, electro. This is the sort of slant that Melbourne has over Sydney. Sydney would give you the best "rock" bass lines, Melbourne gives you an expanse of bass lines. Or should I say "BASE" lines. There are references to Crack in there, just to remind people to stop saying that word so much, fo shizzle. New word for the month is "TOPS".

Also, i got an email from FoundationKL in the week, offering up 6GB of storage space with unlimited bandwidth in the week. So it means this series, and all the mixes i do too will now be posted and hosted there. So big up to em, it'll give better speeds than zshare and yousendit and etc. Check out their site too, they help promote independent/bedroom DJs and producers through their webblog.
Also this has allowed me to use bloggers new enclosure link feature, which basically turns the mix into a podcast thing too. Hopefully you'll just be able to subscribe to the scatterblog or something, and get all mixes made as enclosures. I'll update this post when i work out how it works.
