Hmm, so where to start on this sucker... I'll try and not right anything too long and elaborate. But this post does mark a few things. One is that this post marks this blog hitting 100,000 hits, which is a bit of a trip in itself. Considering i started it about a year ago exactly now, and was just considering it as a place where i'd be able to fill some of my boredom and write down some of the shit i talk. And i dunno what drove me to it, i like showing my friends new music, and same goes when i DJ really, i spose i just get off on people getting down to mad trippy beats. I thought this place would be good for getting out some mixes so they didn't just get lost in my room. And also i'm not really one for playing a mix i've made out at a club over and over. So if i actually do pre-plan a set, it'll be for one night only. It also turns out that my mix tapes are the most popular posts on this blog too which is really flattering and encouraging. So that's what this mix kinda acts as a big thanks to the 100,000 and a mark to the future. Hmmm ok all this writing is slowly getting more and more wanky so maybe i'll get on with it, just BIG UPS to all the readers out there.

Another important bit of this post is the blog is gonna be expanding. I just asked Buff Diss to come and start writing on here with me. I've always been down with writing about events both for music and in other forms of art, and just about cool bits of art going down around the world. But the thing is is i don't have my head close enuf to the ground, so only get a pretty random mention of stuff, and most of that stuff i'm put onto by Buffer anyway. So really the addition is all too fitting. We still gotta have a brew this week and disscuss, but yeh he'll be writing, and we'll just see what he comes up with really, that'll be fun.

Also just a note that i've now added a "popular tags" menu on the sidebar. Which is pretty much just categories that posts get put under. So it helps if ya just wanna check out mix tapes only, or events only, art only etc. etc.

Ok so onto the mix ay. I think i made a new years resolution that i'd make a mix tape comprising all of my own tunes/mashes/edits/remixes etc. At the moment i don't really have enuf beats that i think capture what i'm about right at the moment to make an entire mix tape. Also i'm not quite organised enuf to work it all out. Maybe i can do it more pro as well, and make a launch party and even try and hussle a few of them out somewhere and make a bit of dollar considering all the material would be mine basically.
But yeh it was time for a new mix tape and i've got a few beats i wanna put out in mix, and i figured it'd be a good idea to do a bit of a warm up. So here's this mix. It's ended up a real sorta mash and chop fest. I kinda think of it as one big bit of production rather than a mix i'd do live. I mean you could get down to it live i think, but the stuff i do live is a lil less mashy i spose (not too much less) but not like a new beat every second like this mix. But i don't think that takes anything away from this baby. Like i'm really happy with it, it encaptulates where i'm at.
So yeh the form behind this, the genres? I spose it's a big combination of where i'm at and where i wanna be i spose. As you all know my tastes for music have been getting more into a faster paced, harder, more electonic side of music. I still feel like it's all very hip hop, just it's more phat and yeh electronic mash. Basically the sound i'm looking to create at the moment (through my beats and mixes) is a crossover hip hop house thing, that's much more ghetto and dirty, kinda with a favela influence, hows that? I like the idea of rolling fidget housey bass lines, baltimore party bass, dirty baile funk drums and rhythm, and then a hip hop verse over it all. I really like chopping up vocal bits tho too, i spose in a fidgety switch form, but i still really like being able to get down and listen to a verse. So.... all of that, i'm trying to punch into my beats and mixes. A bit of wank wank again, but i dunno how else to really put it.

So this mix has a fair bit of all of that. It's on a pretty housey tip, but it ain't anything usual. Check it, hope ya like it, leave me a comment if ya feel like it. And good job at getting to this end of the post and actually reading all of that if ya have.

Ooo, ALSO... I've tried to give it a bit of an aussie falvour. I don't really think i was successful enuf, but there's a trail through the mix. Anyway as some know we've got some really good tings coming out of this place atm. I'm still kinda dis-enchanted with a lot of the aussie hip hop dominating atm (sorry to hate but it's how it is), but there's some really nice forms around all of that that are hitting up. Our dance seen seems to be doing pretty well though, there's quite a few names doin starting to get noticed overseas. Through this mix though there's a couple that you might not know about. As said i woulda like to have more in there, just didn't end up turning out like that... Maybe that'd be an idea for the main mix tape, but i could get some cats to do re-edits and remixes, that'd be dope, as long as i can find people interested, we'll see...

Anyway names you'll see in there are, DJ Paz who's a masterful DJ down here. He's been doin it for long time now, and runs some pimped out nights. Look out for his involvement in a bunch of things and his productions. Check da myspace!
Loot is another name. I've been well into his stuff since he pulled out the remix that is in this mix when spank rock released all their acapellas for fwee. What's trippy is i actually found out about him through an american board, fathertronix, which i used to go to a bit. Then he DJed at a Sine Language and yeh i found out he's down with Paz, Ooh-ee and all them cats, even D.L.I, man Melbourne;s a small place. But yeh he's well underated, i'm still surprised i ain't seen his name on a label producing much more of these beats. He did do a mad beat for vyle recently as well which you need to check out. Anyway check da myspace.
Another name is one that's more widely known, a duo who are Riot In Belgium. I've been really impressed with lotsa there stuff, and it seems so has more of the world. There's been some really good remixes. I wonder if there's any longer playing album in the works? Belgium also DJs around here quite a bit, i played one of the nights with him at DAR. If you read this belgium do you remember a guy who came up to you and gave you props while you where DJing but couldn't hear a word you said to him? that was me. So yeh i was there asking him what a song was and telling him i liked the tunes, but i dunno if he heard either, it gets damn loud in that place.

Anyway this year keeps getting better, i'm hoping it still keeps moving, hope it's goin well for everyone else out there too...big ups, boom selekta, bwoh bwoh bwoh and all that.
Dig the mix, it's obviously got exclusives from me, a Paz exclusive, a Sweat.x track that ain't out (although i only really used it as a DJ tool really) and some other hotness. Oh and i've made one of the remixes available for you to download, check in the track list ;)
